PEPPER PIKE, Ohio – Ursuline College scored a pair of goals in a span of one minute and 36 seconds late in the second half to defeat the visitors from Kentucky Wesleyan College, 2-0, in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference opener for both teams on Thursday (Sep. 18) afternoon.

The Arrows, winners in three straight, improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play while the Panthers had their two-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 3-2 and 0-1 in the G-MAC.

Junior Vanessa Consiglio scored the first goal of the match, which was her third of the season, at 72:44. She took a ball just north of midfield and dribbled up the left side before beating KWC goalkeeper Courtney Barter who was inserted at halftime for injured starter Kathryn Dishion.

Sophomore Cassie Cripe gave UC some breathing room when she took a ball from senior Paige Rowan and beat Barter at 74:20. It was Cripe's second goal of the season and marked the fifth consecutive game that Rowan, the reigning G-MAC Athlete of the Week, has recorded at least one point.

The Panthers never could get one past sophomore keeper Helen Jazzar. She was credited with eight saves, matching her season-high against Shepherd on Sep. 6.
Both teams mustered 16 shots and Dishion had four saves, one more than Barter.

The Arrows are off on Friday but will return to action on Saturday (Sep. 20) when Trevecca University comes to Pepper Pike for a 1:00 p.m. match that will be covered with free live audio on the Ursuline College Sports Network.

UC and Trevecca split two matches during the 2013 regular season before the Arrows got the better of the Trojans in the opening round of the G-MAC Tournament.

Don't forget, Saturday is 'Alumnae Day.'
